TM-Europe 2009

1 - 2 October, 2009

Theme: Quality and Terminology Management, and Business Terms and Conditions for Translation and Localisation Services

The TM-Europe 2008 International Conference was held on 9-10 October 2008 in the Warsaw Marriott Hotel. With a focused two-day programme, over 130 attendees, 8 top industry sponsors, 4 major industry patrons and plenty of networking opportunities the conference was a great success.

TM-Europe 2009 is scheduled for 1-2 October, 2009, either in Warsaw or Krakow. The conference focuses on management issues for the translation and localisation industry. In the recent TM-Global Translation and Localisation Market Survey based on an all-industry survey customers and providers alike reported that consistent high quality was the number one factor they take into account when managing processes or selecting a vendor, yet they had problems pin-pointing how quality is defined, measured and manifested. A lot of progress has also recently been made in developing TBX as an ISO standard, and the industry should witness a significant revival in terms of terminology management development. Hence, quality management and terminology management are some of the major topics the TM-Europe conference is going to address next.

The final debate will feature a panel composed of customers vs. translation and localization service suppliers discussing the terms and conditions of doing business together. The focus will be on what are the prevailing policies depending on location, different pricing and quoting schemes, payment conditions, vendor selection criteria, quality assurance requirements, conflicts of interests etc. and how can this business relationship be managed more smoothly and efficiently based on a WIN-WIN principle.

TM-Europe is a specialist event focused on executive and practical management issues, improving skills and meeting business challenges of the global markets. We welcome any suggestions and comments about current and future events, and other ventures that may promote management and quality standards as well as best practice, and help promote the translation and localization industry in general.
