TM-Europe Speaker Notes & Conditions

Overview:

  • Presentations and workshops are conducted in English.
  • You can submit a presentation, a proposal for a panel discussion or a workshop session.
  • If you are suggesting other co-presenters, panelist or trainers please let us know whether you have contacted them already and include their contact details.

Submission Formats:

The proposal should ideally include:

  • a summary of your proposal a short bio (max. 500 words)
  • a brief description for the conference website and materials (max. 300 words),
  • a short bio for the conference website and materials (max. 300 words)
  • a standard photo (in colour - min. 130x170 px)

Presentation and Session Formats:

The typical presentation and session formats are:

  • 45 minute presentations
  • 60 minute moderated panel discussions
  • 120 - 240 minute practical tools or project management workshop (including a break)

Scope

We are particularly looking for informative and knowledgeable presentations, innovative ideas, business or technology expertise, sharing of practical experience, documented case studies of systems implementation, customer-vendor success stories or process optimization analysis, as well as business and management perspectives applied to the translation and localization industry models and practices, as well as excellent communication and presentation skills.

Note

Please note that the conference is a professional two day event and we wish to ensure that all presentations are very focused on the theme, informative and avoid self-promotion.

Important Dates for Speakers

The following are important dates for speakers and those submitting proposals for TM-Europe 2010.

  • March 2010 - call for papers.
  • 7 May 2010 - final date for submitting proposals - a proposal should be submitted using the form provided on the website.
  • June 2010 - TM-Europe will confirm the status of presentations submitted.
  • 25 September 2010 - Deadline for receipt of final presentations.
  • 30 September & 1 October 2010 - TM-Europe 2010.



Please note that speakers, panelists and trainers traditionally meet for an informal pre-conference dinner and chat on the evening before the conference i.e. Wednesday 29.09.10 (time and venue TBC).

Conditions of Speaker, Panelist and Trainer Participation

Submitting a proposal constitutes acceptance of the conditions listed below.

  • With the submission of a proposal the speaker, panelist or trainer undertakes to participate and present or conduct training at the conference in accordance with the scope of the proposal.
  • TM-Europe organizers do not normally cover any expenses. However, the organizers have a policy of offering a 50% registration fee discount to speakers, workshop trainers and members of the programme committee, and a 25% registration fee discount to panelists and session moderators.
  • Only complete application forms will be taken into consideration after the submissions deadline. TM-Europe organizers reserve the right to suggest that speakers modify topics or presentation formats to better fit the theme, scope or target.
  • Acceptances and commitments are considered to be linked to individual speakers, not companies. If the proposed speaker becomes unavailable, acceptance of replacements is at the discretion of the TM-Europe organisers but if any cancellation due to force majeure occurs less than 2 months before the conference, a speaker would normally be expected to offer a replacement.
  • A maximum of two proposals per company can be submitted.
  • Upon acceptance of the proposal, the speaker, panelist or trainer agrees to provide an updated abstract for the conference proceedings approximately 60 days before the conference at the latest.
  • With the submission of a proposal the speaker, panelist or trainer also automatically grants TM-Europe and TM-Global rights to publish abstracts, bios, articles or presentations in multiple languages as well as any media.
  • With the submission of a proposal, the speaker, panelist or trainer agrees to send all final presentation slides at least 5 days prior to the conference as a Power Point file and a PDF file to TM-Europe organizers for publication on the TM-Europe and TM-Global website.
  • With the submission of the proposal the speaker, panelist or trainer agrees the presentation can also be webcast, streamed or recorded for publication on the TM-Europe or TM-Global website.
